The Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GWHCC) was
established in 1976 and originally known as the Ibero American
Chamber of Commerce. Today, GHWCC seeks to unite and represent a
business-aimed constituency integrated by the Iberian Peninsula (Spain
and Portugal) and Latin America. GWHCC has witnessed a significant
increase in the Hispanic population in the Greater Washington
Metropolitan area.
Recognizing the significant growth of Hispanics with regard to
population, purchasing power and business ownership, projections for
the Hispanic community indicate that these numbers will continue to
rise, greatly increasing the importance of maintaining a strong
Hispanic Chamber presence.
GWHCC is also able to work hard in promoting Washington, DC as a
tourist and commerce destination. The Chamber plays an active role
in receiving delegations from Latin America and the Iberian
Peninsula and also participates in a number of conferences in the
Washington, DC region that focus on international issues. A large
effort of GWHCC also includes promotional visits to Latin America
and Spain with chambers of commerce, business entities and
corporations to develop business partnerships and to endorse
Washington, DC as a premiere city for trade and culture.
GWHCC's program with the BizLaunch office of Arlington Economic
Development in Arlington County, Virginia serve the purpose of
developing and managing programs and activities designed to overcome
barriers faced by Hispanic businesses and entrepreneurs. We work to
improve outreach and business assistance services to the Spanish-speaking
small business and entrepreneurial community. We are pleased to be
in partnership with such great organizations and such a talented
group of professionals.
